Coaching Notes

Shannon grew up playing soccer in this area from a young age. She joined Placer United Comp at 12 years old and played until she left for college. She also started as a forward on her High School Varsity soccer team as a freshman. In college she played co-ed intermural soccer, and once back in the area after graduate school, she played co-ed indoor at Maidu and Cal Fit Rocklin. Shannon has been an assistant coach for the past 4 years (3 years GBFC, 1 year RYSL) and is now taking on as head coach.

The 2011 Boys team last year finished 1st in Silver 2 league, took 1st at Ghost and Goals, and 2nd at Rocklin Quarry Blast. The focus for this year will be to develop the U10 boys team into strong, all around athletes specifically for soccer but for all sports. Shannon believes that in a competitive setting players need to learn discipline and respect for coaches, trainers, teammates, opponents, and referees. Although 8-9 year olds are still learning the game and one of my goals is for them to have fun and keep playing, they are also at the age where I expect they learn the values of hard work, commitment, and focus in competitive sports. We will strengthen their soccer fundamentals, emphasize teamwork and soccer IQ, and support a strong commitment that comes with a competitive sport in order to have a successful season!
