Coach Requirements

General Requirements

The following information outlines the requirements necessary to be a coach with Granite Bay FC.  Please follow these steps to ensure you can be eligible before the season starts.

  1. Register as a Coach from the GotSport platform.
  2. If new to the GotSport platform, see “Don’t have an account? CREATE AN ACCOUNT” at the bottom of the page.
  3. During registration, ensure you upload a head shot photo of yourself, with no hats or sunglasses.
  4. Make sure the following four US Club Soccer requirements are fulfilled:
  5. Get a Live Scan done if not completed previously.
    • Print and complete the Live Scan form and Bill Notice.
    • You will not be charged for this, as the club is billed directly.
    • Bring the completed form and Bill Notice to any location listed at https://www.capitallivescan.com
      • If you go to a location not listed on the link above, the club will not reimburse.
  6. Complete required U.S. Soccer Coaching Education courses if not completed previously.
  7. AB 506 Mandated Reporter Training
    • Under AB506, administrators, employees, and regular volunteers of youth service organizations are required to complete child abuse and neglect reporting training, also known as mandated reporter training.
    • Complete Volunteer Training from CDSS
      • You must take the “Volunteers” course, not the “Sports & Rec Volunteers” course, otherwise you will be charged out of pocket for your certificate.
    • Once complete, save the certificate as a PDF and upload to GotSport.
  8. Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA)
    • You only have to complete this once in your coaching role with GBFC (Rec or Comp).
    • There will be 2 in-person courses offered in August, paid for by GBFC.
      • If registered as a coach, you should receive an email in July or early August with details.
      • For questions or more information about the in person course, please contact our Activity Director.
    • You can also complete an online course at any time, but will need to pay on your own with no reimbursement.

    • Once you complete either course, submit your certificate to the appropriate registrar:

Additional Requirements

  1. Email your team immediately ASAP that you are their coach!
  2. Concerns about your roster? Ask the Rec Coaching Director or Registrar
  3. New Coach? Sign up for “PCA for New Coaches” (Registration details to come)
  4. Already done that? Sign up for “PCA for Returning Coaches” (Registration details to come)
  5. Get at least 2 parents (if 2 parents have gone in the past, get 2 more) to sign up for the “PCA for Parents”
  6. Assign a Team Parent
  7. Find at least one Sponsor
  8. Hold team meeting prior or in conjunction with practice
